「議員定数削減」は、予算の節約には、さほどならない。議員歳費を削るという選択肢もある。我々は中学受験程度の常識的知識をついつい失念しがちであるが、議員とは我々の代表である。我々の意見の代行者である。我々の意見を肌理細やかに反映するにはそれ相応の人数が必要である。

別な言い方をしよう。

議員定数を削減すると、議員の当選に必要な票の数はそれだけ増える。逆に有権者から見ると、一票あたりの値打ちが減る。
